Rajasthani Folk Songs
Today I got to check out few Rajasthani Folk Songs. Although they were new to me but I thought I have heard these tunes sometime before.. Strange... isn't it? I really felt like I know these tunes and these are integral part of my being.
I recalled dancing on these tunes in my School Annual Day functions... Rajan Sir was our Dance Teacher. Like a flash of light, School days came into my sight... The Dance practice sessions, the discussions that followed. It was crazy!! I miss those carefree days now..
I recalled my daadi freaking out throughout our Home asking moms, chachis et al to do this and that.. asking kids not to keep their sane.. all sorts of preparations for Festivals in our Home. A festival was literally that - a moment, a day, an evening filled with celebrations. I miss those fun-filled days now..
I recalled myself, my brother and cousins running around throughout our Sweet Home... making lots of noise, dancing in the rains (yes literally). We would go on the Terrace whenever it rained and had a freakingly gala time. I miss those rainy days now..
It was indeed a beautiful feeling to have discovered this relationship I was having between Me and Rajasthani Songs...
If I would have started fancying these songs before my marriage then I would have defintely prepared my "Sangeet" on a Rajasthani theme.. Unfortunately, I am already married now.. :P

Shelves
Days passed by and I became a mature person... Little things that life offereed became mundane and it was no more thrilling to see a glimpse of the shelves and things in my wardrobe. It became just another furniture for me... and I was no more possessive about it. Nor was I very much keen to talk abt it or decorate it.
I resorted to take a look into my wardrobe. Then one fine day, I was taken aback to see that the shelves are no more what they used to be... The partition seem to have disappeared and it all became a big one piece of storage space. I had been accostumoed to search for my things in this big space that I did not seem to bother abt it. It is only now that I had figured out why the thrill was not there anymore..
Then I rearranged the shelves once again and made sure that the things that belonged to one should not be allowed to peek a boo into the other and vice versa..
That day changed my destiny. I became not only thrilled for life all over again but realized that this thrill is here to stay.. for a much longer time..
Do you have your own Wardrobe Story to share? :)

I Wonder How...

I wonder how do you manage to look so hot even when you are so tired.... the way you close your eyes and surrender yourself in my arms... makes me fall in love with you...
I wonder how do you manage to look so cute even when you are shouting at me.... the way you scold me and make me feel that you are mine... it makes me fall in love with you...
I wonder how do you manage to make me miss you so much even when I talk to you everyday... the way I feel myself transported into a magical world.... it makes me fall in love with you...
I wonderhow do you manage to make me write sweet nothings for you even when I want to write nothing.... the way my heart feels so-much-in-love..... it again makes me fall in love with you...
I wonder how do you manage to make me smile when I am angry.... the way I smile amidst my anger and witness an enlightened world... it again makes me fall in love with you...
I wonder how do you manage to make me fall in love with you over and over again..
with every word you say....
with every song you sing....
with every breathe you take...
with everything that you do...
with everything that you are...
.....for every moment I live...

Come.. Fall in love..

It has always been said by the experienced people that journey is more enjoyable than the destination itself. Human mind wants to reach the destination as soon as possible only to realize that the quest to reach there was far better. Once we reach the destination, we start missing the journey. This is the reason many people have fascination with travelling. My one such fascination is train. I love train travelling a lot. So in case of love, falling in love is the most exciting phase. Even after lots of years of togetherness, our heart craves for that elusive ‘first-time-together’, the absence of which triggers extra-marital affairs. So, the only solution is to keep falling in and out of love till the time you find your soul-mate and once you find him\her keep falling in love with him\her.
Please share with me the songs which you associate with falling-in-love along with the reasons. The reason has to come straight out from the heart.
What is Love?
Love is a feeling the definition of which keeps changing with time & age.

“Love is a mystic feeling & it makes u feel myriad emotions. The feelings are never stable. U might feel ecstatic
at one moment and might feel agonized
the very next. What matters is togetherness. Even if after lots of bickering, a couple stays together then it means that they are meant to be as one.”
In a nutshell, ’’Love means never having to say goodbye.’’
10th Feb 2004
Our Hindi Music Industry has always churned out top-notch ’Love Songs’ for us to sing & cherish. Let me take u into this ’Mystic River of Love’. But first, lets have a word from me on - what else but Love.
Love has many forms. Love manifests itself in many ways. We all have been in love sometime in our lives. No one remains untouched by love. Once touched by love, u r bound to feel on cloud nine. Love is a wonderful feeling. Its heaven in the arms of ur lover. But love doesn’t always last. Sometimes, love fails. Though u never expected that to happen but it happened. ’’Why’’ - you would ask but won?t get any answer.
why did u break my heart.. why did u fall in love.. why did u go away..away..away..
When we break-up obviously it hurts. We feel depressed. But with time everything gets fine, howsoever cheesy it sounds, its a truth. Either we get a new love or revive with the old one. Time has a very significant relationship with love. Time nurtures love. Time is a test of love. When love survives all the odds, it lasts forever. Otherwise it ends & only memories remain. The old memories couldn’t be discarded easily. Howsoever hard u try, everything would remind u of ur lost love. U would feel like going back to him/her. In ur life sadness sets in & u just don’t let go of that feeling from ur heart.
tum bin jiya jaaye kaise.. kaise jiya jaaye tum bin.. sadiyon se lambi hai raatein.. sadiyon se lambe hue din..
But thats the way love is. Love follows a cycle - We love, lose & win in love again. Live life as per ur beliefs. Don’t change for someone. Even if u love him/her from the core of ur heart. Actually thats not love. Its just the illusion that makes u want a person with whom u don’t really get along well. Its just that sometimes u fall in love with the idea of falling in love. So, if someone breaks ur heart don’t let that affect ur life to an extent that u end up becoming a Devdas. If u can’t get Paro then forget her, accept that she isn’t made for u. By accepting it u r opening urself for new relationships.
ho gayi hai kisi se jo anban.. thaam le doosra koi daaman.. zindgani ki raahein ajab hai.. ho akela to laakhon hai dushman
Always bear in mind, its easy to fall in love but its difficult to be in love forever & ever. Love is a condition & for it to last forever, some amount of maturity is essential. And no one can teach u that. Its for u to learn by ur own experience. So go, fall in love, even if ur mind says otherwise give it a try if the wish came from ur heart. Always follow ur heart. U either break-up or u learn to accept each others? follies & grow up together. One of the two is bound to happen. So why worry?
chaand ne kuch kaha.. raat ne kuch suna.. tu bhi sun bekhabar.. pyar kar.. ohohooo pyar kar.. aayi hai chandani.. muhse kehne yahi.. meri gali mere ghar.. pyar kar.. ohohooo pyar kar..
Lastly, don’t follow whatever I’ve said. But just follow ur heart. If ur heart is saying fall in love with someone, then do it. Time will let u know if u made a right or a wrong decision. In case it was right then nothing like it. In case it wasn’t, never mind. Atleast now u know what u want from life. Every decision, right or wrong, has the capacity to teach u something. Wrong ones though are disastrous but nevertheless they are ur best mentors. Live & learn !!

Bridge Across Forever...
His creations are philosophical and he relates his philosophy with his experiences. This very aspect gives a magical touch to his novels. Readers are transported to another world where they see their mirror images and thereby take stock of their own life.
"Bridge Across Forever - BAF" is one such novel. Although the details about the flying planes which signifies writer's passion for the same might sound boring, but the novel still manages to leave a lasting impression on the readers in the form of learnings which are not preachings in any way. Here I am reproducing the quotes from the novel BAF, which are gonna live in my memory not as mere quotes but as experiences from life to look back to..
Without the power of Love, we are boats becalmed on the seas of boredom...
To bring anything into your life imagine that it's already there...
Love is an empty word left after meaning has been battered away...
There is no sensitive way to deal with insensitive people...
Wall don't protect, they isolate you...
A soulmate is someone who has locks thats fits our keys and keys to fit our locks...
That's what learning is, after all. Not whether we lose the game but how we lose and how we have changed because of it and what we take away from it, that we never had before, to apply to other games. Losing, in a curious way, is winning...

Journey Like Never Before!
Nor in white,
LIFE is, rather, in the grey areas..
Days never come with a guarantee. Each morning we wake up to face a brand new day, oblivious of what it has in store for us.
So don’t just live, but, make beautiful memories.
Live as if you are celebrating. Celebrate not only the occasions, but celebrate life, celebrate each and every day. That is how we can make beautiful memories and can boastfully recall our bygone days. Just the way we do recall our school days. Because those were the days when we were actually living.
But now, we are not living; We are busy in competing, hating, loving, complaining, cribbing, agreeing, disagreeing and what not. We do everything; But Live.
I exhort all my readers, to start living as if there is no tomorrow. I dedicate this review to the Spirit Of Living.
Why this discourse on Spirit of Living?
Because the character Geet(Kareena Kapoor) exhibits this and much more on the screen. And this movie is all about Geet. The above things are not my preachings but a perspective of life which Geet has in the first half of the movie but somehow loses it in the second half.
Her garrulity, her innocence, her crazyness, her boldness, her brashness is captivating. Geet will leave a deep impact on u. Geet will make you fall in love with life despite the adversaties. Geet’s memories will not leave you after leaving the theatres; it will linger on you.
Her outlandish ideas like:
- tumne bachpan try kiya hai na, maza aaya tha na, ab ye try karo
- bohot maza aa raha hai na… haan kyunki zindagi mera fav game hai.. tumhara kya hai.. let me guess racing..
Her crazy one-liners like:
- mujhe bachpan se hi shaadi karne ka bohot shauk hai, my god!!
- mein apni favorite hoon!!
- agar ek rupaya kuch nahi hota to chori kyu kar rahe ho!!
- Tenu ki pharak painda hai!!
Her quality of being a hopeless romantic:
“Mere jaise laakho mile honge tujhko piya
Mujhe to mila tuuuu hi
Tu hi mere hontho ki khilti hui si hansi
Gila bhi piya tuuuu hi
Dekho na dekho mujhe kya hua hai tujhe sapno mein laake
Pucho na pucho mujhe kya hua hai teri baaton mein aakar
Yes ishq hai baithe bithaye jannat dikhaye haan”
- “Sung by Shreya Ghoshal”
Geet expresses her feelings for Anshuman (Tarun Arora). Her happiness, her anticipation of meeting him. A fairy-tale kind of recitation, doll-like dancing with innocent-looks makes it an enticing number.
Her sadness:
“Sapno ka jahan
Hoga khila khila
Barsega saawan, barsega saawan
Jhoom jhoom ke
Do dil aise milenge
Aaoge Jab Tum Saajna
Angana phool khilege”
- “Sung by Ustad Rashid Khan”
Happy lyrics with sad music & in sad situation. Happiness is explaining the sad story of Geet. How her dreams shattered.
Why she becomes desolate? Watch the movie and find out.
JWM is also about loving someone but not wanting him
JWM is a beautiful love-story which gives us a completely new definition of LOVE.
"Loving Someone is a trip to Heaven..
Wanting Someone is a trip to Hell.. "
We have seen characters turning desolate after realizing they are not being loved by the person they love. But have you seen a character getting all the more successful in his career after saying goodbye to the person he actually loves?
Yes I am talking about none other than Aditya Kashyap (Shaahid Kapoor). Aditya falls in love with Geet and expresses it to her (not explicitly, but by his demeanour). Despite the fact that Geet loves Anshuman, Aditya never stop loving her.
“Baithe baithe aise kaise koi rasta naya sa mile
Tu bhi chale mein bhi chalu honge kam ye tabhi faasle
Aao tera mera na ho kisi se waasta
Aao mile chale jaana kahan na ho pata”
- “Sung by Shaan & Ustad Sultan Khan”
There could not have been a better song to describe feelings of Aditya. It beautifully expresses the feeling of falling in love and most importantly wanting to be in love forever and keep cherishing it, without bothering about the fact that the person whom you love can never be yours.
Its hard to live alone, its harder to choose someone to love but the hardest part of Love is to admit that you have fallen in love with someone who can never be yours!
Does Anshuman also loves Geet? Yes he does. They studied in same college and fell in L-O-V-E.
“Na hai yeh pana
Na Khona hi hai
Tera Na hona jane
Kyun hona hi hai
Mein kahin bhi jata hoon
Tumse hi mil jata hoon
Tumse hi tumse hi“
- “Sung by Mohit Chauhan”
Aditya misses Geet without getting upset about it. Infact, cherishing it. He didn’t miss her at all because he felt her presence everywhere. He was in love and was rejoicing in it. He was basking in the sunshine of love.
This song and Aditya’s love for Geet gave us a new definition of “missing someone” or “not-missing someone.”
What else?
What happens with Aditya, Geet and Anshuman’s life is for you to find out. But I can tell you what more can be expected out of this movie.
- Punjabi tadka
- Melodious songs
- Tactics to get over a heart-break
- Comedy like never before
- Situanal songs with lyrics so aptly written
- Each & every scene in the movie is enthralling.
- Every song is mesmerizing.
Two dance numbers from the movie:
- Nagada Nagada (Sonu Nigam, Javed Ali)
- Mauja hi Mauja (Mika Singh)
Conclusion:
This movie is for all those who have loved and lost. Also, for all those who have been cheated. For those who are in love; And for all the singles out there, this one is for you too. Infact, it is for those as well who does not believe in Love.
Geet says -
“Don’t let the bitterness of yesterday and the fear of tomorrow take away the sweetness of today”
Aditya says -
“Don’t fall in love, but rise in Love”
Nidhi says -
“Love is a funny feeling; never take it seriously”
